About the client
ScanForce is a company that specializes in developing applications and solutions for Sage 100 and Sage Intacct clients. In other words, they deal with warehouse and inventory management systems, primarily.
Project summary and goals
The goal of this project was a complete design overhaul of the client's Sage 100 Inventory Automation platform. The application had no coherent design system and was built by pieced together systems and css.
Our job was to create a design system that greatly simplified the user experience and significantly reduced the onboarding time and learning curve for users.
Our approach
This project was challenging on multiple levels, requiring us to understand the system at an in-depth level so that we could help the client identify the key pain points of the application. Since the project focused on an almost entirely table driven interface, it was absolutely imperative that we nailed down every piece of functionality that the tables would require.
For the design system itself, we used a customized version of the Material Design system. We added or removed functionality in order to reduce the friction when it came time for developer handoff. We also created detailed “sticker sheets” (design frames that depict every instance of a component in various states) to answer as many design questions as possible before developers started their implementation.
