Kinequip

About the client

Kinequip (website also designed and built by Meridian) is a multifaceted company that primarily sells electrical, fluid power, automation, vacuum and compressors to customers as either components, integrated engineered systems, repairs, or technical service.

Project summary and goals

This project was managed by My Project Solution, and was a part of an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) tool for managing product prices and inventory by comparing competitor products against the client's product prices and inventory.

The tool would allow the client to quickly make market price adjustments as soon as the market raised or lowered prices on a particular product. It had to display pricing data in an easily digestible format, and show pricing changes over time between multiple products and companies in a clear and concise interface.

Our approach

Our approach to the project began with several meetings to determine the best starting point for a technology stack that would achieve the project goals quickly and on-budget. For the frontend, we recommended React, TailwindUI, and Tremor for data display.

It was important to pick the frontend libraries before we began our Figma design. That way, we could accurately build components that were true to what the React libraries offered, and make sure we understood which parts of the design were mutable, and which shouldn't be changed.

Many design teams ignore the needs of developers, and will design without thought to the technology or libraries being used. Our approach allows a much quicker and smoother handoff to developers.
